外傳謝長廷力勸陳菊角逐黨主席，謝長廷說，「期待陳菊去整合！」，現在台灣或民進黨都需要整合，因為台灣需要共識的力量，陳菊市長的資歷、能力、實力及支持度、有超然形象，應可承擔更多責任，把大家整合起來。不是要陳菊一定要選什麼，要根據她的企圖和現在高雄的狀況判斷，「現在沒有整合，因為有實力的本身都要選舉」。
