隨著美國可能出現史上第一次技術性違約，美債避險天堂的地位也備受挑戰。不過，分析師認為，只要違約時間不被拉長，短天期美債雖然會遭受衝擊，但在大陸、日本的大債主的力挺下，長天期美債殖利率則不致發生失控的狀況。

在過去，每當金融風暴發生時，美債總是投資人的避險首選，即使2008年金融風暴中心發生在美國也不例外。儘管這次問題出在資產本身，但倫敦專業市場研究機構Capital Economics認為，萬一倒債不幸成為事實，由於長期美債受衝擊程度較輕，避險地位仍在，因此10年期公債殖利率雖然必將漲破3%，但會控制在4%以下。

上週五10年期美債殖利率收在2.65%，較前一日下跌0.04個百分點。與此同時，11月7日到期的1個月期國庫券殖利率則跳升0.1個百分點至0.22%、遠高於本月初的0.02%。
