環保署計畫在「車上診斷系統（ＯＢＤ）」上路後，取消機車定期排氣檢驗，但每年定檢是控制車輛汙染最基本的把關手段，若未拿出周延的配套措施，恐怕不宜輕廢。

台灣機車數量已超過一千五百萬輛，每戶平均有兩台機車，因機車密度太高，我國也採行全球最嚴格的機車排氣標準。但環保署如今卻假設機車排氣不合格，全是因沒有機器提醒；只要知道排氣有問題，車主一定會主動修理、改善，豈不怪哉？

即使現行規定機車每年定檢，許多改裝車仍變著花樣規避檢驗，或在檢驗拆除違規設備，檢後重新裝上，路上也常見烏賊機車。如果取消定檢，汙染勢必更嚴重。

機車攔檢只是抽驗，無法取代全面定檢，環保署的汙染管制策略也不能全靠「車主自律」，否則汽車、工廠只要裝「自我診斷系統」，汙染問題就迎刃而解了。
