針對馬英九總統將邀請前副總統蕭萬長成立民間推動委員會推動經濟整合，引發外界質疑國民黨以及財經部門內已經找不到人才，財政部長張盛和今（2）日表示，「人才不必讓他閒置，不必說找到某人又說找不到人才，不必這種解讀」。

總統馬英九在元旦談話中表示，為展現加入區域經濟整合的決心，將請前副總統蕭萬長成立民間推動委員會，邀在野黨及工商團體參與，凝聚共識。

蕭萬長則說，協助政府推動參與區域經濟整合的具體策略，他深感責任重大，必當全力以赴，促成早日融入TPP與RCEP。

由於馬總統曾在2008年時邀請蕭萬長負責經濟議題，如今馬總統又再度邀請蕭萬長，引發外界質疑政府已經找不到人才，張盛和今日則說，只要是人才就不必讓他閒置，但是外界也「不必說找到某人又說找不到人才，不必這種解讀」。
