台中市水利局在霧峰區四德路進行「乾溪河川環境營造計畫」工程，施工單位為了營造空間闢建單車道，利用原本緊鄰河岸的綠地架高搭建平台，平台若遇到植栽或電線桿，就開缺口或留一處非常窄小的植穴，小樹成長空間因而受限，長大後亦有被勒死的可能。（完整影音報導）

台灣護樹聯盟召集人張美惠說，詢問市府官員工程是以多少年作規畫，市府官員竟回答不知道，並補充等樹長大再挖大一點的洞。

台灣護樹聯盟希望胡志強市長和設計監造的公司按照標準工程規範，留出適當的樹穴和土壤環境給樹木生長，並追查相關官員的責任，勿再浪費人民的納稅錢。
