根據一則新的媒體的報導，蘋果的下一代 iPhone——即 iPhone 6 將會采用藍寶石玻璃材質，讓手機的整體質量得到一步提升。然而，提升的不僅僅是iPhone 的質量，還有可能是售價。報導稱，iPhone 6 的價格提升主要是針對美國之外的地區，美國本地仍然會保持199美元起售的合約價和649美元的裸機起售價。2013 年11 月，就有媒體透露蘋果已經向GT Advanced Technologies 支付5.78 億美元為iPhone 6 打造藍寶石玻璃螢幕。隨后，蘋果為iPhone 6 斥巨資造藍寶石玻璃螢幕已經得到GT 公司的證實，5.78 億美元足夠為1 千萬臺以上的 iPhone 供應螢幕。
